AG Koster Will Not Take Legal Action Against Federal Health Control

It appears Attorney General Koster will not be joining the other 13 states in filing a law suit on behalf of the people of Missouri to question the constitutionality of the recently passed health care legislation.

According to MissouriNet:

Gov. Nixon tells the Missourinet the state has better things to do.

“I just think this is a time for everybody to take a deep breath, everybody to begin reading what’s in here, and to make sure that Missouri implements it smartly, and effectively and efficiently,” he says. “That’s the task that I’m about, and that’s the task that my cabinet and I and I think leading members of the Legislature are going to work on.”

Nixon indicated he would ignore Kinder’s request to protest the constitutionality of the bill.

In the mean time, the Missouri legislature is working hard to pass the Health Care Freedom Act. This proposed Constitutional Amendment, if passed by both the House and the Senate, would be on the November ballot for Missourians to vote on.

The Health Care Freedom Act essentially protects Missouri citizens and small businesses from fines or other penalties that the federal government would impose on them for refusal to purchase health insurance.

Let your state legislators know how you feel about the Health Care Freedom Act, and thank them for working on your behalf.
